Sound & Picture

Original music, thoughtful sound design and some semi-original video.

Major Love Games

Latest Release

A chill beat with lush vocal slices, delays for days and some filtered Native-American flute.

Created the single artwork from a royalty free painting and re-used the artwork to create a shareable social video for friends and fam.

Full track is streaming now.

Assassin

Film noir meets a modern beat

I originally produced this track for a music workshop focused on Push. I was going for a modern film noir vibe, maybe something for a video game menu.

I screen captured different parts of Ableton, some audio plugins and then corner pinned them to the screens.  Added a bit of grain for texture. (original background render from Unsplash)

Risk

strange love letter

I started doing posts every day in an attempt to keep up on my art making skills, aiming to post at least once a day in October. I used the prompts from Inktober and each day would create a new track and image by editing stock photos from Unsplash.

This one is a little love letter to one of my favorite shows and was really excited to share it on Halloween. No movie here, but you can hear the track: vintage synths and drums with some eerie sound design.

Hive

We need more humans

This source video is from Beeple, treated with layers of chromatic aberation that fade in and out as the lights explode.

I wanted to make something super deep with lots of sound design but also focus on emphasizing the sound of the lights.  I did sound for the camera passing (more audible at the end) and wanted the over all track to have a dark techno vibe.

Turbulent

Bumpy rides, ripe with inspiration

Another source video from from Beeple's free VJ Loop library treated with layers of chromatic aberation pushed further than they ever should be.

I was channeling that bumpy, dippy energy you only get in the sky.

Debris

City 17 is crumbling

This is a heavily distorted version of the Setting Sun video loop from Beeple... this one got really destroyed by shifting the colors, adding edges and experimenting with some live video effects within Ableton emulating VHS tearing.

I focused first on hitting as many of the falling rocks as I could (the original loop is only 15 seconds) and then built a really intense and cinematic track around it.

It gets a bit crazy and break core-ish at the end.

Piano Solo

I do have a softer side...

This is an original piece I've played for friends in need of something relaxing, at weddings and even family funerals.  It's a bittersweet celebration of life.

I used a 3d render of a blank square from Unplash and composited a screen capture of the midi piano roll in Ableton.  I then added some slight chromatic aberration and grain for texture.

Toy

And a child like side...

This track is made from loads of sampled children's toys to give it a child like feel. It's very playful, sweet and hopeful.

I composited a screen capture of the mix screen onto an image of an old macintosh (from Unsplash) and applied a mosaic effect to give it a bit of pixelation.

The computer is most definitely a toy, but it's also a lot of other wonderful things including one of the most expressive artistic and musical instruments we have.

For Tip

And a very human side...

Another source video from Beeple — all I did was make it black and white, vertical and add some grain. It was just too perfect for what I needed.

This is an honest reflection of one's desire to be back home with their family when they know they are needed most.
